Snow Lake Hike

We went on a beautiful hike to Snow Lake on Labor Day, located off of I-90 at exit 52. Once you take the exit, hang a left (going west) towards Alpental Ski Resort and you will see a sign towards the Snow Lake trailhead. If you forget to buy a parking pass, you can park before the “permit required” lot for free along the road. We normally would get passes to support national parks, but we didn’t get a chance this time. This hike is 8 miles round trip, and a fairly challenging hike. There are lots of rocks on the terrain, but it was not steep. The total elevation gain is 1300 ft and the highest point is 4400 ft. Once you get to the ~3.5 mile mark you come to the lookout point and the views are breathless. From there you can hike 0.5 mile down to the lake or turn back around. I wish we would have worn bathing suits so we could have jumped into the lake because it was a hot day! The hike took a total of 3.5 hours as we stopped for a while down at the bottom for lunch. Below are some pictures for your enjoyment!
